Douglas Rushkoff

Douglas Rushkoff is the author of Present Shock: When Everything Happens Now as well as a couple bestselling books on networking, technologies, and civilization, such as Program or Be Programmed, Media Virus, Life Inc along with the Ecstasy Club. Throwing Rocks at the Bus: How Development Became the Enemy of Prosperity, his latest book, will be released by Penguin/Portfolio at March 2016. He is Digital Economics in CUNY/Queens and Professor of Media Theory. He wrote the picture books Testament and A.D.D., also produced the television documentaries Generation Like, Merchants of Cool, The Persuaders, and Digital Nation. He resides in New York, and lectures about media, society, and economics.

Rushkoff's first book about digital culture, Cyberia, was canceled by Bantam in 1992 because they thought the Web would be "over" by the time the book came out in 1993.
