Bedlam Farm in upstate New York is where I dwell, write and tend my pets - two donkeys, pets, two barn cats. The rambling old farmhouse was constructed in 1862; it is surrounded by pastures, streams and wooded a milkhouse , plus four barns along with hillsides .

I compose novels- memoirs, novels, short story collections, and starting in 2011, children's publications. I am a photographer.

In my former life, before I climbed preoccupied with sheepherding and shifting manure around. Write more about the experience of understanding animals and living with and I wanted to change my own life.
I write books and nonfiction novels (I've written 20 novels), together with columns and articles to Rolling Stone, Wired, the New York Times, and the site HotWired.
Coming to the plantation was be a Joseph Campbell style "Hero's Journey." I found a person to talk about my entire life, got divorced, struggled to confront myself and moved off into a dark areas.

My spouse Maria Wulf is a artist, who specializes in fiber artwork. She operates in the Studio Barn. Before this year, I thought briefly of purchasing Bedlam Farm. We chose to stay here after getting married. My daughter Emma, a sportswriter living in Brooklyn, has written her own novel. I publish a site I love - www.bedlafarm.com. My photos appear there. My puppies are Izzy, Lenore, Frieda and Rose.

My writing life started with a book - "Sign Off" - a unwittingly prescient story concerning the jarring changes in work and security.

This season - 2010 - I am returning to fiction. I've written a novel, "Rose In A Storm," on a border collie stranded on a farm in upstate New York through a dreadful storm. This novel was written by me in conjunction
