Clifford D. Simak

During his fifty-five-year career, Clifford D. Simak produced some of the most iconic science fiction tales ever written. Born on a farm in southwestern Wisconsin, Simak became the news editor of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, writing fiction in his spare time and acquired a job at a newspaper in 1929. Simak was famous for the book City, a response to the horrors of the World War II, and also for his novel Way Station. In 1953 City has been awarded the International Fantasy Award, and in subsequent decades, Simak won three Hugo awards and also a Nebula Award. He became the Grand Master of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and before his death in 1988, he was named one of three winners of the Horror Writers Association's Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement.
