Laurie Colwin (1944–1992) was born in Manhattan and raised in Lake Ronkonkoma, Long Island; Chicago; and Philadelphia. She attended Bard College and Columbia University and worked before purchasing her narrative, at the age of twenty-five, to the New Yorker. She went on to publish eight critically acclaimed works of fiction along with two collections of recipes and essays & #x2014; Home Cooking and More Home Cooking & #x2014; in addition to writing a food column for Gourmet magazine and donating to Redbook and Mademoiselle. Dinty W. Moore

Dinty W. Moore was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, and spent his formative years fishing for bluegill, riding a bicycle with a banana seat, also scattering the Sisters of St. Joseph. He also earned a BA in writing in the University of Pittsburgh, worked briefly as a journalist, and also served brief stints as a documentary filmmaker, modern dance performer, zookeeper, and Greenwich Village waiter. It was just after failing at every one of these professions that he proceeded to earn an MFA in fiction writing from Louisiana State University.
A National Endowment for the Arts fellowship recipient, Moore has guest taught creative nonfiction conventions across the USA and in Europe. In addition to editing the online journal, Brevity, he is on the editorial board of Creative Nonfiction magazine.
